Eason Chan (Chen Yi Xun) is a famous Hong Kong cantopop singer, and the second non-Taiwanese singer after Jacky Cheung to win Taiwan’s Golden Melody Award. He won “Best Male Singer” in 2003 and “Best Album” twice in 2003 and 2009.

Having won Best Album at this year’s Taiwan Golden Melody Awards, Eason Chan will release a brand new Mandarin album, Fifth Floor’s Happiness or 5/F Blissful Cuts (上五樓的快活), at the end of September.

The 2007 Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation was held on Tuesday in Hong Kong with Eason Chan and Joey Yung crowned Best Male Singer and Best Female Singer.

Web site Sina.com.cn reported that Eason Chan obtained five awards at the ceremony, including Gold Award for Best Male Singer and Album of the Year with his new offering “Listen to Eason Chan.”

Local singer Eason Chan was the biggest winner on Sunday night at the Mandarin Music-On-Demand (MOD) Best 10 Awards ceremony held by Hong Kong’s TVB station. He walked away with 5 awards on the night.

Chan’s song “Tao Tai” (Elimination) won Best Producing, Best Songwriting and was one of the Best 10 Golden Melodies. Another of his hits, “Under Mount Fuji,” was named the Globally-Loved Cantonese Song. Chan himself was also voted as the Most Popular Male Singer.

Taiwan singer Angela Zhang was the Most Popular Female Singer.

As one of Hong Kong’s most important occasions music-wise, the awards also honored new artistes from the mainland, including Zhang Liangying and Shang Wenjie, both of who rose to fame from the Super Girl singing competition.

Zhang Liangying’s “Damned Love” was among the Golden Melodies, while Shang Wenjie was named Best Newcomer.
